Housing Court Answers is hiring a part‐time Queens Borough Assistant. 

Housing Court Answers is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting for the rights of unrepresented litigants in Housing Court. Housing Court Answers provides information on landlord/tenant issues at information tables in NYC's five Housing Courts, through a hotline, and for NYCHA tenants at 250 Broadway. Responsibilities
Borough Assistant will work at our Queens Information table providing assistance to unrepresented people in eviction cases. The Borough Assistant will work with the Queens team to provide legal information, referrals and assistance at our site in the Queens Housing Court at 89-17 Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica. Work also includes helping coordinate meetings, workshops and events, monitoring the Housing Courts to identify problems experienced by unrepresented litigants, and helping with telephone hotline. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm or 2pm and occasional afternoons ‐ must work 23 hours per week – some flexibility in hours/days. Job location is primarily in Queens, but requires occasional work in other Housing Courts and in our office in Lower Manhattan.
 
 
Required Qualifications
  • Must be able to communicate in Spanish
  • Ability to work with the public in a stressful and chaotic setting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate across lines of difference (including race, class, and ability)
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively, must be a team player!

Salary and Benefits
23 hours per week with an annual salary of $25,307. Health insurance for employee, paid sick and vacation leave, and paid holidays. Salary and benefits are negotiated through collective bargaining.
