Job Opportunity: Housing & Sustainability Organizer

We are the Brooklyn Movement Center, a Black-led, membership-based organization of Central Brooklyn residents. We build power and pursue self-determination in Bedford-Stuyvesant & Crown Heights by nurturing local leadership, waging campaigns, and winning concrete improvements in people’s lives. Over the years, our intersectional-issue organizing has included police accountability, food and environmental justice, anti-street harassment and education equity.

We’re looking for a dynamic organizer who can lead campaigns to resist displacement and build resilience among vulnerable, long-term Central Brooklynites residents. A competitive candidate is someone who is a fearless recruiter and has strong people and communication skills, including using digital organizing tools.

You’ll be responsible for:

Experience and skills needed for the job include at least two years’ experience in tenant organizing that included base-building, volunteer management, campaign management, and leadership development. Experience in Central Brooklyn issues and/or racial justice organizing are all advantages, but not required.

Salary and benefits include $55,000 with full benefits for a one-year, full-time position with the possibility of long-term employment.
