Gain fluency in two powerful housing and neighborhood data tools, CoreData.nyc and the Displacement Alert Project (DAP) Portal!

The NYU Furman Center's CoreData.nyc and ANHD's DAP Portal help users quickly get detailed statistics and insights into their communities and buildings. Understanding these tools will help you level up your research for community organizing, advocacy, and policy work.

Attendees will learn how to use CoreData.nyc to explore the city's subsidized housing developments and identify properties of interest for organizing and advocacy. We'll also cover how the Directory of NYC Housing Programs can be used as a resource to learn more about the details of over 200 government programs related to affordable housing. Finally, we'll see how CoreData.nyc can also be used to examine broader trends in housing across the city, and dive deeper into individual neighborhood conditions with Neighborhood Data Profiles.

In the second part of the training, participants will learn core functions of the DAP Portal, including how to access a wealth of information about any individual property with the Property Lookup and how to use the District Dashboard to identify properties at particularly high risk for displacement. Additionally, the tool's Custom Search allows users to define exact criteria for their research.

This training is hands-on, so please bring a laptop or tablet!
