Landlords have filed more than 40,000 eviction cases against tenants in New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic. As many as 1.2 million New Yorkers are at risk of eviction because of rent they owe. Barriers to access have stopped eligible tenants from filling out hardship declaration forms to protect themselves against eviction. Tenant organizers, advocates, and service providers know how central outreach is to reach tenants at highest risk of eviction.
As New York State negotiates plans to allocate $1.3 billion in rent relief, eviction prevention outreach is critical while that relief is distributed. Please join ANHD and Ayat Husseini from Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani’s office for a training on how to utilize the DAP Portal to identify tenants in greatest need of outreach in order to ensure those most likely to face evictions are connected to the support they need.
ANHD thanks the New York State Assembly and Senate for their support of the Displacement Alert Project, which allows this training to be possible.
