Statement on legislation passed during final city council stated meeting of 2025
Today, in its final vote of the 2024-2025 session, the New York City Council passed a range of critical bills to advance affordable housing and economic justice in New York City.
With the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPA) and creation of an NYC land bank, the Council has ensured that New Yorkers will have critical new tools and protections to advance the goal of safe and affordable housing for all. And in passing the Street Vendor Reform Package, they have acted to enable vulnerable entrepreneurs to enter the legal regulatory system and receive the same services and resources as other small businesses.
ANHD is proud to have fought for these and other bills passed today alongside our members, coalition partners, and allies in government. While there is still more to be done, we end the legislative session with these bills having made true progress towards a more equitable city for all New Yorkers.
