For too long, weak regulations have led speculators to harass and displace tenants in communities across New York. Affordable housing developers know that stability benefits both tenants and landlords and that housing quality and housing affordability can go hand in hand. The agreement the Senate and Assembly announced tonight represents an enormous step towards righting the balance between tenants and the real estate industry in New York State. ANHD stands with the Upstate Downstate Housing Alliance in support of this remarkable legislation and looks forward to building on this victory by continuing to expand housing protections to all the New Yorkers who need them.
