ANHD's Affordable Housing stand in NY Times 9/3/13

Starting in 2017, the City will begin  losing an average of 8,500 affordable units each year because of expiring short-term affordability limits.

  ANHD's Policy Director, Barika X. Williams, is today's lead blogger in the New York Times Room for Debate column, with Plan for Future Housing Needs advocating that the next administration build subsidized housing that is actually affordable for the long term.  To achieve this, the new mayor can reshape city policy to guarantee that affordable housing units are generated from major zoning and land-use changes and at almost no cost to the city.  Otherwise, multiple factors could easily lead to a worsening housing crisis:
