Public Benefit Expanded at Hunters Point South Development

November 30, 2011

When the first stage of the New Hunters Point South development at the southwestern tip of Queens was announced last year, it required a minimum of 60% affordable units – already a considerable amount for a development that, when completed, will be the largest affordable housing development since Co-op City. However, when all is said and done, it turns out that the first phase of this development – over 900 units - is going even further toward maximizing affordability. 100% of the units are going to be permanently affordable housing, the kind of workforce housing New York City needs if it’s going to continue to complete on a global stage.
