An op-ed emphasizing the importance of passing legislation to create a new, citywide Certificate of No Harassment program appeared today in Gotham Gazette. Co-authored by ANHD's Benjamin Dulchin and Make the Road NY's Javier Valdes, the op-ed illustrates the appalling harassment all too many low- and moderate-income tenants face from landlords intent on higher profits.

An op-ed emphasizing the importance of passing legislation to create a new, citywide Certificate of No Harassment program appeared today in Gotham Gazette. Co-authored by ANHD's Benjamin Dulchin and Make the Road NY's Javier Valdes, the op-ed illustrates the appalling harassment all too many low- and moderate-income tenants face from landlords intent on higher profits.
 
Creating a citywide Certificate of No Harassment program would create a strong disincentive for harassment by preventing landlords with a history of harassment from accessing the renovation permits they need to bring in higher paying tenants, and requiring a "cure" of deeply and permanently affordable harassment in cases where harassment can be shown.
