ANHD supports the goal of the City of Yes: Zoning for Housing Opportunity proposal to create more housing development opportunities, especially in areas that have historically excluded affordable housing. However, the proposal needs key adjustments to truly address affordability. ANHD recommends prioritizing deep affordability for low-income households, increasing density bonuses for affordable units, and ensuring protections for existing tenants and homeowners. With these modifications, ZHO can be a meaningful tool for equitable housing development across NYC.
