ANHD Selected for Citi Foundation Grants in Latest Expansion of the Community Progress Makers Initiative

ANHD is thrilled, along with six ANHD members, to have been selected to the fourth cohort of the Community Progress Makers Initiative by the Citi Foundation.

This initiative, launched in 2015, provides unrestricted funding to visionary organizations in the greater New York City area, aiming to connect low-income communities with greater economic opportunity.

With the unveiling of this latest cohort, the Foundation has now committed an impressive $115 million in grants to Community Progress Makers since its inception. This cohort was carefully chosen through an open request for proposals (RFP) process, focusing on organizations dedicated to affordable housing and access, economic development, financial health, and workforce readiness.

As ANHD celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024, we remain committed to advancing economic opportunity and community development for New York’s low- and moderate-income communities. Through research, advocacy, grassroots organizing, and movement building, ANHD works to support our members in our collective efforts to “Build Community Power” and advance equity and justice in neighborhoods and city-wide. This Citi Progress Makers Initiative grant marks a unique opportunity for us to deepen our partnerships with the incredible community of organizers, advocates, community development corporations, small business providers, artists organizations, decision-makers, and more that we work with.

ANHD is excited about this opportunity and capacity to serve and work with our 80+ member organizations, and the 450,000 low- and middle-income New Yorkers they annually empower. 

In addition to Citi Foundation’s financial support, all recipients will benefit from a learning community where they can exchange best practices with fellow Community Progress Makers nationwide and receive technical assistance from esteemed national experts and leading researchers. This collaborative platform, blending local expertise with national resources, positions these nonprofits to accelerate their community-based initiatives in the greater New York City area.

We are thrilled that the Greater New York City Community Progress Makers cohort includes six ANHD members, demonstrating the shared vision and outcomes we are advancing in our communities. Congratulations to ANHD members: Chhaya Community Development Corporation, Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, Fifth Avenue Committee, Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County, RiseBoro Community Partnership, and Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation, and to all the grantees across the country.
